Congaree National Park: 2 Day Camping Trip from Charlotte

Congaree National Park: 2 Day Camping Trip from Charlotte
As the sun's first light pierced through the trees, the creek shimmered with soft golden hues, and I glided silently through the glassy water, surrounded by towering cypress trees draped in Spanish moss. The mist rising off the water and the occasional bird call made it feel like I was the only one in the entire park, completely immersed in nature.

Day 1 - Boardwalk Loop Trail -> Weston Lake Loop Trail

Escape the city and embark on a scenic 2-hour drive from Charlotte to Congaree National Park, home to one of the tallest temperate forests in the U.S. After setting up camp at Longleaf Campground, dive into the park's enchanting wetlands with a 2.6-mile Boardwalk Loop Trail, where you'll be immersed in towering trees and unique ecosystems. For a truly serene experience, take the detour on the 4.5-mile Weston Lake Loop Trail, leading you to the tranquil shores of Wise Lake.

Day 2 - Kayaking Cedar Creek -> Bates Ferry Trail

Start your second day by paddling the calm waters of Cedar Creek, a 2-3 hour kayaking adventure that lets you glide past cypress trees draped in Spanish moss. Once back on land, take a short, scenic hike on the Bates Ferry Trail to visit the awe-inspiring General Greene Tree, one of the largest in the park.
